I don't know but I get the same effect, always on Andy's messages and
sometimes on others. Its not my PC because ours isn't "elderly".
I'm now resigned to deleting such messages unread. If people choose to
ignore repeated requests to send messages in unformatted, plain text,
then the occasional ineligibility is their fault and their mesages will
remain unread by me. :-(
