Hi Jon & Birding-Ausers,

Yes Jon, I agree, the BbPk is an unbelievably beautiful bird. Actually
Ron's sighting was for 21st Oct at Kingfisher park.

He wrote
"This morning, the 21st of Oct 2000, at 7am, Simon Kennedy and Karen
Dobson, Guest's, at K.P. sighted a Buff- breasted Paradise Kingfisher.
This is first arrival of the BBPK at Kingfisher Park and five days
earlier than last year.
Good Birding.
Ron Stannard K.P.B.W.L."

And just for the record,
Sunday 28 Oct, along with Laurie & Hazel Jones, we saw our first
Buff-breasted Paradise-kingfisher for the season at Mt Charlton about 50
klm NW of Mackay. This is also an early sighting for the area.
Interestingly the white tail feathers were not fully grown and contained
some grey, and the white line from the tail, was indistinct
finishing in a clump of downy white feathers on the back. I'm presuming
the bird had not finished the moult into full breeding
plumage.
Cheers
Les Thyer
