Hello mystery lovers,

I have received several responses to my mystery sandpiper message, even one from
Wales.
Thank you to every one involved.
They all suggest Broad-billed Sandpiper.
This agrees with my initial thought (well, I would say that, wouldn't I?!)

Fair dinkum; I did think it was a Broad-billed.

Well, just to be sure I had another look on Monday 30/10/2000 and got some more
video footage of the same bird.
Check out the new images I have added to my web page:

Another one for my Life-list.

For any one interested in looking for this bird:
Woody Point is on the Redcliffe Peninsular just north of Brisbane.
Go to the Jetty. This is a pretty obvious landmark as Woody Point is not a very
large place.
Look along the rocky area just to the East of the jetty (stand at the entrance
to the jetty as if you were about to walk onto it and the East is on your left).
If the bird is not in the area between the jetty and the sewerage pumping
station go back along the walking path on the other side of the jetty to near
the yacht club.
There is a picnic area there with a 'flying-fox' contraption.
Look for a mixed flock of birds on the foreshore near there.
Best time would be near high tide and not on a weekend.

Good luck,

Bob Inglis
