HI everyone,
Indeed mp3 files or some digital alternative will eventually allow us to
have all the australian bird calls available in the field with immediate
recall. Using an mp3 player (such as a compaq ipaq handheld pda) you
could already have 10 sec or so for each bird and the sound would be
retreivable in a few seconds. Compare this to trying to carry the BOCA
tapes in the field and how long it would (does!) take you to find a
particular species. Only available RAM is holding us back.
Best Wishes
John Boyce
