In reference to the Little Bittern, I was there last Saturday at 6am.
Within 1 minute of getting out of the Car at the cul-de-sac (dunella
crt), I disturbed a couple of swamphens on the edge of the first lagoon,
on my way to the causeway. When the swamphens moved, they flushed a
female(?) Little Bittern which flew up and landed on top of the patch of
waterlillies. I was initially about 15-20 metres away but I managed to
get within 5 metres of the bird. No problems with the cryptic
colouring, especially on a green background.

I took about 8 photo's of the bird from varying distances. I observed
it for about 5 minutes before it flew to the island. Other birdo's that
turned up later were not so fortunate, ah Andrew.

If anyone is interested in the photos, let me know and I will email them
to you.
