G'day again Erin,
What a beaut Saturday here in Victoria,

A good gauge for magpies is:

Tail feathers shorter then the folded wings ....
under 4 months ....

Tail feathers equal to the folded wings ....
4 months to 6 months ( give or take )

Tail feathers over 1 inch longer then the folded wings
over 9 months of age.

John,

The feathers are just a bit longer than the wings when
the wings are folded.

Erin

I would feed as an adult bird would feed.
