Hi All
Further to my last email, those birders interested in birding
at Homebush should note that during the Olympics and Para-Olympics, there
is no public access to the areas I mentioned in my last email. Access is
however, available for registered Birds Australia volunteers to the
Silverwater Nature Reserve (those who have been conducting surveys at the
site).
After the games, public access will still NOT be possible in
the Silverwater Nature Reserve. However, public access will be available
to the southern section of the Wetlands Corridor (via the walking path), whilst
the northern section can be viewed from outside the fence on Hill Road.
Other areas within the Olympic Precinct will also be reasonably accessible (note
the signs), and of course, Bicentennial Park, Mason Park and Prince Edward Park
(Hen & Chicken Bay) are all open to the public.
Good Luck and Good birding!!
Peter
