Subject: Common Blackbird in Victoria (Aust.)
inquires about Common Blackbirds in Australia.
I have just checked the Atlas of Victorian Wildlife for this species and noted
that Turdus merula is extremely widespread across Victoria. It isn't restricted
to towns and I have seen it in the Grampians and Wilsons Promontory National
Parks for eg. and it occurs even on offshore islands of Bass Strait.
It appears to only be absent from the drier desert areas of the state. What is
the situation on the other states?
