Richard.

I have just recently purchased a mapping program called OziExplorer and
although I have not yet used it extensively, it is easy to use.

You can download a shareware version of the program at
http://www.powerup.com.au/~lornew/oziexp.html

The program allows you to scan in maps and calibrate them in Lat -Long. If
you buy the program you can calibrate the map in other formats such as UTM.

It does have the 'Moving Map' feature although I haven't tried this out yet
due to lack of appropriate cable for my Garmin 12.

One neat feature is that if you move off the edge of the current on screen
map it will search the computer for the next appropriate map and put that
map up on screen automatically.

It will work with most popular types of GPS. Price was A $85.00.
