GPS & Mapping programs

During my visit to Australia, I would like to use my GPS unit with some mapping program(s). The unit is a Garmin GPS III, no longer being made by Garmin.

Here in the states I use it with a road mapping program called _Map-N-Go_. It is a fairly good program which lists waypoints as part of the road maps. I also use it with _Maptec_, a program that works with topo maps.

I am looking for something similar to use in Australia. I have heard that FUGAWI and OZIMAP have programs that work with GPS units. In addition, I read today that AUSLIG may have compatible programs/maps.

I would appreciate any information, either first or third hand, about these, or other programs. I hope to set them up on my son's computer in Mt. Colah (SYDNEY).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers
