Hi all
We had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of new holland honeyeater chicks after
watching 'mrs holland' diligently collecting nesting material and placing it in
a palm fork where we could easily watch her and her potential young with binocs
and telescope. However, after 16 days of incubation she abandoned her nest. It
is suggested by Wayne Longmore in his 'Honeyeaters and their allies of
Australia' that the incubation period of new holland HE's is 18 days. My
question is can anyone suggest why this bird would abandon her nest after 16
days of incubation?
