Hugo Phillipps wrote "The 'save a rare bird from becoming extinct' is, of course, ridiculous - the Tawny Pipit is a rare vagrant to England.....".
 
Actually Hugo and not trying to draw away from the main subject matter, the Tawny Pipit is a scarce passage migrant to England, one that I used to see annually on Portland. It also 'nested in Sussex in 1905' - The Birds of the British Isles & Their Eggs, T. A. Coward.
