Hi All

Preliminary survey of Birds Australia/ NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Rufous Scrub Bird sites (used in 1999) in the Gloucestor Tops National Park occurred on the weekend of September 3, 2000.

One day was extremely windy and made it difficult for survey, but yielded one male RSB calling.  On the second day, greater survey was applied and led to 2 male RSB's being recorded.  One bird was calling with a 'chip' call X3 at c. 20 second intervals.  The bird would often respond to a nearby Eastern Whipbird with a single 'chew' (obviously mimcry of a female E. whipbird).  No other calls or mimicry were heard by the birds.

Cheers

Peter
