Hi All,
Is there anyone out there who knows anything about the science of how
natural wader roosts form? I am involved in the building of
artificial roosts, and have Wayne Lawler's book on roost
construction, but I wouldn't mind having a better idea of how roosts
form naturally. I've been back through all the Stilts, and could find
nothing.
For instance, why, when mangroves grow all along a certain type of
coastline, should there be a bare patch which becomes an established
wader roost? I have my thoughts, but would appreciate some fresh
thought. I know nothing about geology, but in this instance, I think
I need to find out.
This is not a bit of idle communication. If there is anyone who has
knowledge, or can point me to papers or articles, I would really
appreciate it.
