Birding Aus's (especially Brisbanites)
I have just read a press release from Env & Heritage Minister, Rod
Welford, to coincide with National Threatened Species Day (yesterday)
which states that a "Brisbane couple with a passion for wildlife had
discovered the tiny, dark grey 'Sooty Owl'(sic) in their Brookfield
backyard".
Do any of you know who this couple might be??? Brookfield is not all
that far as the owl flies from its known haunts around the mounts. He
went on to add "This is the first time this rare bird has been spotted
in Brisbane", any comments one that one either???
In the release, He also talks about the 're-discovery" of the Eastern
Star Finch at lakefield by a group of Natursearch volunteers, the
release of a new scientific review of the impacts of tree clearing
titled Native Vegetation Management in Queensland: Background, Science
and Values. So something is being done.
