species in Australia. All but one record were taken from HANZAB and I understand all are of males in breeding plumage (both species). What is the liklihood that either eclipse male Northern Shovellers or 'any-plumage' female NSs would be picked up in Aus Shoveller flocks. Put another way, are they really so rare? Lawrie ConolePS: Northern Shoveller (in full breeding plumage) was common on lakes out on the steppe in Uzbekistan in June. I agree with other mail - a very beautiful bird. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
