A quick note on some more atlassing along the border regions of SEQ.
Wednesday last week was the Ekka holiday, so I went for a stroll from
Lindsay Gap to Mt Glennie - had a nice view of a bellbird harassing a
king parrot - was a bit like a blow fly doing laps round a dog's head.
On the weekend, some friends and I climbed Barrabool [one of the lesser
visited peaks of Mt Barney - quite a bit of a bash getting there, but it
has some interesting habitat, and some of the best views in SEQ]. On
the way in we passed some yellow-tailed black cockatoos and flushed a
tawny frogmouth. While on top [at 1100m] we were a bit surprised to see
a willy wagtail hanging about [seemed a bit out of place] and had a nice
view of a grey goshawk cruising among the tree tops near Savages Pt.
After a nice cup of freshly ground coffee and some mocha choclate we
weaved and grappled our way down to the north branch of Barrabool Ck -
saw a pink robin while having lunch on some rock slabs. Finally, for
good measure, we flushed a spotted quail thrush on the way back to the
car.
