Emus west of Emu plains ?

Sounds like creative use of stock bush-fire footage.

Judy & Peter Smith's book Fauna of the Blue Mountains
quotes George Evans remarking on their abundance
at Hartley in 1813
yet by 1836 Charles Darwin writes
that the Emu had been "banished a long distance"
from the Blue Mountains.

Blue Mountains WIRES picks up some
roaming from the ADI site (north Penrith ?)
