Just a note to thank people for responding to my request for info on NZ birding.
It appears that there are no birdwatching tours available "for the general
public". I say that because the one organised
birding/nature tour that came to light wanted a whopping $9339 NZD (AUD $7,700)
for 18 days ($430 AUD per day)- and that
didn't include the single room supplement!!. Obviously the millionaire's tour
of all the most expensive hotels and
restaurants.
So there's a good opportunity there for a tour operator.
So it looks like I'll be winging it myself. In which case, can anyone advise
please how I can get onto Little Barrier,
Codfish or Maud Island to see Kakapo? Any special permission or
pre-arrangements required?
Thanks
