With apologies to Ian Fraser whose serious and important question reminded me of this true story.
Two blokes investigating a lake in S.W. Queensland for its' national park potential, are sleeping in the open near the lake. As bloke A tells the story, he woke during the night to hear a most strange sound. It was all around him. Never heard anything like it. Switched on his torch (flashlight) and the mystery was solved:
Hundreds of grazing ducks! (Woodies, I guess.) The ducks panic and take off in all directions, one shooting straight down inside the sleeping bag of B who until then was still asleep. The effect of the cold muddy feet and sharp claws of a panicked duck on his naked body was as disconcerting to B as it was amusing to A.
Yes, feeding wild ducks can be a problem!
