Hello all,
I thought I'd drop a quick email about this in case anyone is visiting
Kununurra in the near future. For those who aren't aware Lake Argyle is an
enormous man-made lake about 50km S. Kununurra in WA. While most of it is
deep there are shallow edges here and there. It was once a great place to
see Yellow Chats. Unfortunately during the six months I spent at Kununurra
Yellow Chats were nowhere to be seen, and hadn't been seen at Lake Argyle
for almost 2 years.
Well, according to Steve Sharpe they are back again. I think they were just
waiting for me to leave!
I can highly recommend Steve's cruises on the Lake- though you have to go on
one of the bird cruises. Another bird that Steve can show people is the
Purple-crowned Fairy-wren. Contact details below:

While on Kununurra boat cruises, a good trip that can be done is on a
"Triple J" Ord River boat cruise. Ask to go on one that is being guided by
Adam Read who is well in with the local Black Bitterns. Its probably worth
talking to Adam first, so that he knows that you want to see birds. Little
Bitterns are here as well but very difficult to see- a bit scarce I think.
I hope this doesn't count as advertising . If so I take responsibility as
