Further to my message re the Square-tailed Kite in Sydney on
Tuesday another uncommon Sydney raptor has made a brief
appearance.
I saw an Australian Hobby scythe rapidly overhead, almost at
roof height, in suburban North Ryde,
33°
47.70´ 151° 07.37´, yesterday
afternoon.
Since 1995 I have had thirteen sightings of this species in the
greater Sydney (Cumberland) area, nine of which have been in the
outer western areas. Only three of these sightings have been in
"inner" Sydney suburbs. These were Homebush, Strathfield
and North Ryde and all seen this year.
