Hello Birders
Silvereyes are an uncommon winter visitor to Roma (26oS,148oE), about 450 km WNW of Brisbane. A pleasant lunchtime encounter today was a flock of 12-15 birds foraging in one of the bottletrees planted in the middle of town. All seemed to have the rich orange-chestnut flanks of the nominate (Tasmanian) race lateralis. These migrants are regular visitors to SEQ but this is the furthest inland that I have seen them. --
