The dedication and determination of the South African birders and
volunteers to rescue so many penguins from this terrible oil spill
disaster is quite inspiring. It would be good if people around the world
could show their support by contributing to the WWF appeal.
I enquired at my bank about sending a donation, and found that it would
be best to send one large sum rather than a lot of little ones, as a
draft costs $15 and an international transfer is $25, regardless of the
amount.
After the success of the birding-aus sponsorship of Hanzab, could we
take up a collection to donate a lump sum to the penguin appeal?
I am happy to help organise it, but it might be better to go through an
official body - can Birds Australia do it? (What do you think, Russell?)
Please respond with offers and ideas, if you are interested.
