Hi Birders,
Carol Proberts when describing just a pair of wings
of an Owlet-Nightjar that were found in the Blue Mountainds area, and asked the
question, what predator would leave behind just a pair of wings?
The answer is "Many I suppose", but the main
culprit in my experience is the Peregrine Falcon. They particularly leave pairs
of wings behind after consuming White-faced Storm-Petrels, Wedge-tailed
Shearwaters, Gould's Petrels, Feral Pigeons, even Bar-tailed Godwits (I found a
pair of wings below an eyrie at Mow Rock, Binnaway Central NSW), Red-rumped
Parrots and Silver Gulls etc
