Not by a Superb Lyrebird, but a friend David Behrens (who is not on the
'net) gave me a copy of a tape recording of an Albert Lyrebird he had made
along a National Park walking track near O'Reilly's in Lamington NP. The
bird is clearly imitating human speech as he must often have heard it,
though for the most part not recognisable words. The exception is a very
clear "Hey Bill!"
This Albert mimicry was out of the breeding season. Lyrebirds mimic then
many things that they don't include in their breeding season song.
Cheers
Syd
