Here on the Mornington Peninsula in my garden I just adore my resident
Singing and Spiny cheeked Honeyeaters. I think Singing Honeyeater is a
misnomer as apart from a few musical gurgles I know they are around by it's
unsinging---eeeeeeeeh call!!
I also have resident Superb Fairy Wrens and W.B. Scrubwrens which give me a
lot of satisfaction as my 4 acres was totally devoid of vegetation when we
built here 9 years ago.
Australian Hobby's prey on the Spotted Turtle Doves in the area. I am
always fascinated to watch them devouring every part of the bird,even the
feet and bill.
Has anyone else noticed the increase in Spotted Turtle Dove numbers in
recent years?
They are in plague proportions down here.
Yellow Robins have just this year moved into the garden as the vegetation
is now dense enough to satisfy their needs.
My garden list is now up to 47 species with several breeding records.
