G'day all
I was listening to a session on the ABC radio on Wednesday where people
ring in with their wildlife (mostly bird) sightings. A lady from
Dunkeld (bottom end of the Grampains in Victoria and about 100km inland)
called in and described a dead bird she found in her garden. To me and
the guest naturalist it sounded like a prion - a small greyish seabird
with webbed blue feet. She was advised to send it to the Victorian
museum so if she does I would be interested to hear from someone from
the museum about its identity. The weather in southern Victoria has
been atrocious with strong southerly gales and heavy rain. We had snow
in Hamilton on Saturday morning - almost unheard of. It is just
possible I suppose for a prion to be blown this far inland - stranger
things have happened.
