Hello Bill

I doubt if your Square-tailed Kite would pose any danger to anyone's
chooks. The books suggest that STKs catch nearly all their prey in trees
- mainly small passerine birds (especially nestlings and eggs) or in
default small reptiles, tree - frogs and large insects. Though it is a
fair sized raptor, the STK has only a relatively small beak and small
rather weak feet

The guinea pigs would probably be pretty safe as well. STKs have been
known to take rabbits, but it appears that they only do so
occasionally. Unlike its near relative the Black-breasted Buzzard, the
STK doesn't get around easily on the ground; in fact it rarely comes to
the ground.

Regards,
Colin Scouler.
