Hi all,
Just to elaborate on Peter Waanders mention of the firewood conference, this
conference is on Thurs 8 and Fri 9 June at the La Trobe University campus in
Bendigo, Victoria, surrounded by box-ironbark habitat.
The conference is a Victorian National Parks Association initiative, and is
supported by Bendigo Tourism, Environment Australia, the local council, the
local Catchment Management Authority, NSW National Parks Association etc. The
conference will focus on the VNPA's firewood business plan, which looks at the
economics of moving firewood sources to plantations.
I'm sure all facets of this issue will be discussed, and anyone with an interest
of the outcome here should try to attend or perhaps ask for conference papers.
Karen Alexander is organising registration and
conference paper orders etc.
Anyone who does attend is welcome to contact me if they would like to a chance
to see some Swift Parrots. It looks to be a good year for Swift Parrots around
Bendigo, as opposed to last year lean pickings. I may be able to take people
out before/after the conference.
