Hal et al,
             My concern is for the birds. In a recent article in" Ecos" [I think], the local tribes were totally against tapping the underground water for cotton-growing and depleting the watertable. Their reason was the effect on the ecosystems in that area, all very dependent on that water.
            I'm with the local tribes. If the land councils are for destroying the system, I'm against them.There is no politics involved as far as my views are concerned, but strong sentiments about saving Roebuck Plains from developers of any kind. And other sacred birding sites as well,[ if one is permitted to use the term ]
