John You could try scanning the terns on the small sand islands that form upstream of Stockton Bridge (also check for colour flagged Little Terns). I regularly saw WW Terns moulting into breeding plumage there at this time of year. Take a return trip on the Stockton Ferry and check out birds on bouys. Look at terns flying around Nobby's. Really, there are no sure fire spots just places where you stand a good chance of getting them.
