Thanks to respondents re birding potential for two-thirds of a day round Narita. Even the airport hotels can produce Pygmy Woodpecker, thrushes, etc, and the temple gardens Long-tailed Tit etc.

Will post a report about this commonly used stopover upon return from USA.
