Morning all,
Yesterday went to the Nepean and Avon dams about 100km ssw of Sydney at
ca 34° 20´S 150° 37´E. Most of the migrants have now gone with the
one observed exception of a Rufous Whistler. Stragglers of this
species can often be seen through April and occasional individuals
turn up in May in the Sydney area.
The habitat included eucalypt forest of ironbark/stringybark, Sydney
Peppermint/Grey Gum and Scribbly Gum/Ironbark.
I am not familiar with this area and so a small total of 53 species
was no surprise.
There were no unusual sightings but the following is a summary of
some of the birds plus some butterflies and lizards. The lizards were
all in the vicinity of the dam walls.
Pacific Black Duck
Little Pied Cormorant
Great Cormorant - two each of these first three species were
all that was seen on the reservoirs.
