Hello birdlovers... Lorne here...

Yesterday, Edwin Vella and I were thinking about existing alternative
and old-fashioned names for Australian birds eg. the Mountain Lory for
Crimson Rosella, Blue Jay for Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike and Green Leek
for Little Lorikeet.

Here's my new list of alternative bird names...

1. Ground Parrot - Greater Budgie
2. Night Parrot - Bedtime Budgie
3. Red-capped Plover - Sand Hen
4. Black Swan - Long-necked Water Chook
5. Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfisher - Long-tailed Termite-sparrow
6. Crested Shrike-tit - Striped Boxhead
7. Noisy Friarbird - Screaming Clergy-bird
8. Sooty Owl - Dirty Bat-bird
9. Little Tern - White Butterfly-gull
10. Trumpet Manucode - Purple Mynah
11. Indian Mynah - Exotic Scum Sparrow
12. Palm Cockatoo - Jungle Galah
13. Golden Bowerbird - Yellow Starling
14. Royal Albatross - Queen's Gull
15. Wedge-tailed Eagle - Giant Hawk

Can anyone think of any other great alternative names????????

Cheers,

LGJ.
