This is not the first Painted Button-quail I have heard that have been found in urban areas. There has been some reports of birds found in inner Sydney, dead/alive. Even though some birds may have been aviary escapees, could it be possible they are wild birds moving between areas? Has there been any studies of Painted Button-quail movements? Are they primarily resident and/or nomadic? I have found Painted Button-quails at Mitchell Park (Cattai) aswell as other places around Sydney, from mid Winter to mid Summer.
