Hi all, Yesterday on another beach near the Fiordland Penguin site (near Port Fairy in Vic) there was also a sub-adult male Southern Elephant Seal hauled out on the shore and moulting. Apparently it has been moving along the coast for the last two or three days. SES's don't turn up in Vic very often so if anyone's heading that way it would be worth keeping an eye open for this one as well. Sure seals don't have feathers but a 3 to 3.5m mammal is pretty impressive.
