Last week I saw two Brush Cuckoos calling and chasing each other near the Surry River in Cobbobonee State Forest near Portland in SW Victoria (30/11/99), and heard another a few km away (1/12/99). This is about 300 km west of their usual range. There have been a few recent records of this species near Portland (including one by me last summer), so it seems the species may now be a regular summer migrant to this region. Cheers, Richard.
