Hi folks, yesterday's (Monday 6/12) views of the Dowitcher were really excellent and it has been initially identified as a Short-billed Dowitcher(Limnodromus griseus - probably hendersoni). The group involved in yesterday's viewing included Mike Carter, Tony Palliser, John Cox, John Hatch and many others. The bird, which was originally discovered by John Hatch and David Close on Wed 1/12, is in association with Red and Great Knots. Tides were such that the bird did not reappear until Sunday 5/12. Price is a saltfield some 130km north of Adelaide by road on the Yorke Peninsula. Access is by permit or by prior arrangement with the saltfield management. Tony Russell.
