I don't have access to HANZAB so don't know whether the following observation is at all unusual. On 23/11/99 at 6.35 pm (twilight) at Cooran, Noosa Shire, SEQ, I observed a white-faced heron join with Cattle egrets to feed on insects flushed by moving cattle. If anything, it was even bolder than the egrets, standing right beside the cattle's hind legs and snapping up the insects. Has anyone else observed this behaviour?
