Philip I think you are missing the point. Appreciation of a bird is a personal experience. Vagrants can be appreciated (do you have difficulty conceptualising that?) and they are certainly not irrelevant. And if nothing is worthwhile that does not 'contribute knowledge' (but remembering that records of vagrants DO contribute knowledge) then ... Happy birding or data-collecting Niven ************ P.O.
