David, Lawrie and interested others Having raised a Blue-faced Honeyeater I don't wonder at the need for 'auxillaries'. We estimated that this bird peeped 3 million times in the three weeks it took to raise! Incidentally the nestling's facial skin was blue and was still blue when it fledged. Perhaps the green-yellow is acquired at a later stage I don't know. Maybe our bird was just odd.
