Summary,
A rather typical November trip, but somewhat packed with birders - most
enjoyed the day with some great opportunities for photographing Albatross
and Petrels. Good numbers of Short-tailed Shearwater were observed making
their annual migration South and good numbers of Great-winged Petrel - no
doubt recent arrivals from NZ. As usual for November the BLACK PETRELS
were the highlight with up to three individuals putting on a fine display.
Of concern perhaps, was the complete lack of Flesh-footed Shearwater and
only two Pomarine Jaegers.
Also of interest were the excellent views of 'body slamming' Risso's
Dolphin. Good numbers of Wilson's Storm Petrel and a penguin just outside
the heads also delighted the many visitors on board.
