Hi all,
Since the last posting from Cairns a week ago, wader numbers have started to
build up. Numbers of
Red-necked Stint, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Curlew Sandpiper and Black-tailed
Godwit in particular. A
quick stroll along the esplanade this afternoon (28 Oct.) produced the species
and numbers listed
below. Pied Imperial Pigeon numbers remain low but I did manage to find two
nests today.
(The Beach Stone-Curlew mentioned as having a chick at the Cairns Airport, lost
it the following day
after the posting on 22nd Oct. The pair of BSC are still hanging around and
may nest again).
