Crested Shrike-tits occur in the Sub-tropical Rainforest at 900 metres at O'Reilly's where they occur in the upper canopy and are quite difficult to see. I have also seen them in the drier forests lower down the mountain from O'Reilly's. I have also heard CST calling in the Subtropical Rainforest in Washpool NP. To my ear the rainforest occurring CST have a different call to those occurring in drier forests.
