A group of 7 Melburnians (John Barkla, Diana Bryant, Gabrielle Harrison,
Chris Lester, Susan Myers, Richard Nowotny and Fred Smith) found an
Oriental Plover at Cloudy Bay on Bruny Island today (Sat 16th Oct).
Detailed notes and a number of close-range photographs were taken.
For anyone planning to see it, it was easily visible from the Cloudy Bay
car-park, initially within about 65 metres, and after flushing (the even
grey underwing confirming the ID) perhaps another 100 metres along the
beach (but still short of the stream flowing into the sea). It was not at
all flighty, allowing close approach for photographs.
