I don't know whether this has been reported yet but here goes...


An adult male Northern Shoveler was reported at Werribee
Sewage Farm (near Melbourne, 38 S 145 E, south eastern Australia) this
afternoon, seen by Bob Swindley. The bird was seen at no.
24 lagoon which is on the south side of Lake Borrie, on the left as one
travels around the lake from Paradise Road. This species was last seen in
Vic. in November 1983 in much the same spot.

I also take this opportunity to remind birding-aus subscribers in Victoria
to send sightings of interest in 1998 for inclusion in the Victorian Bird
Report. Electronic submission is now available through the Birds Australia
website under 'Research'.
