Steve Clark reported common koel from Hamilton Vic last summer. I don't know if the report was verified/accepted, but it was certainly an out-of-the-way record. Yesterday we took our 2-yr-old walking up to the top of Flinders Peak in the You Yangs (one way to get her to sleep!) and I only heard one Fantailed and one Shining Brz, but on Saturday saw a couple of Horsfields at Avalon Beach ( as covered in detail recently, they do overwinter in coastal scrub here). A Pallid was reported by the head groundsman at Geelong Grammar School Corio a couple of weeks ago, but he only heard it on one occasion.
