Fellow birders,
I am planning a four day trip to central NSW on the October long weekend (Thurs
night to Mon night). The area covered is an almost blank patch in the Atlas
survey maps at present. Roughly it is the area from Mount Hope to Menindee
lakes - three one degree blocks. I don't know a lot about what to expect other
than most of the area is semi-arid. I Think this means mallee, mulga,
grassland, saltbush and wetlands of sorts to the east of Menindee.
I am keen to do some fairly intense atlasing and the emphasis is scientific
rather than twitching. This is great birdwatching country - no strained necks
looking at the tops of tall trees - and this trip could provide an opportunity
to learn more about the birds of the area for those who have never been there.
Anyone interested? Email me on or phone 02 9258 2082
during work hours for further info. Any tips on the area would also be
appreciated.
Regards,
Ian Lundy
