In our small quarter acre block we dug a nice fish pond and out little goldfish bred and bred! One day I looked out to see a White-faced Heron standing on a little 'jetty' we had constructed to sit on. I new the fish were in peril but I thought this might be an excellent chance to grab the camera and get some nice close shots. As I deliberated the WFH struck catching a great big goldfish and promptly flew into our backyard to eat it. It later returned and got most of our big goldfish, the babies escaped. To discourage the bird, we strung plastic bags over the pond. Incredibly unsightly, but it works.
